The final film in H.G. Lewis’s “Blood” trilogy, Color Me Blood Red is a darker, grittier, gorier remake of Corman’s A Bucket of Blood. In this reworking, the artist is a painter who just can’t get the right shade of red… until he mixes it with blood. One of Lewis’s masterpieces, the direction here is markedly above some of his other works. There’s oodles of gore and buckets of bright red movie blood to make this nasty remake a whole lot of fun. The artist in this film is perhaps one of the best actors I’ve ever seen in a Lewis picture. Definitely worth checking out for fans of gore, H.G. Lewis, or A Bucket of Blood, but not for people easily disturbed by massive amounts of paint-colored red blood.

Something Weird DVD is noticeably light on special features for a company known for packing their disks full of goodies.
